When the surgery is closed there is always medical advice available for problems that cannot wait, but this will not usually be the practice doctor. Ring the usual surgery number and you will be put through to the out of hours service.
Our Practice has dedicated appointment slots for our patients to see a doctor at Dewsbury Health Centre on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings between 7 pm and 9 pm. Please tell our reception staff if you would like to book an appointment at these times.
Monday to Friday & Weekends we are part of a scheme which is funded by the 27 Practices in North Kirklees where patients from all the practices are able to book an appointment to see a doctor (male or female) at Dewsbury Health Centre at the times below. This is on a first come first served basis and appointments can be booked in advance. Please tell our reception staff if one of these slots would suit you better.
- 6.30 – 9.30 Monday to Friday
- 9am – 4pm on Saturdays
- 9 am – 1 pm on Sundays
The doctor will try to respond quickly to any situation but in an emergency situation, it may be quicker to call an ambulance by dialling 999.
You may be advised to call an ambulance under the following circumstances:
- Accidents where there may be a serious injury.
- If someone is suffering from a life-threatening illness.
- If someone is suffering from chest pains.
- If someone is suffering from a severe asthma attack.
- If someone may be having a stroke.
- If someone has a head injury
Please note that Accident and Emergency and 999 services are exactly that- for serious emergency cases which are life-threatening. People who use these services for minor problems may prevent others with life-threatening conditions from getting the immediate care they need.
